https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=284469 Summary: Linuxrc does not properly read nameserver setting in the settings.txt for ZEN and fails to write to /etc/resolv.conf file Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dsmallwood@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Okay, hopefully I can explain all these scenarios properly and clearly. These all involve the ZENworks Bootcd.iso and linuxrc version 2.0.62 1. If linuxrc.config has netsetup=dhcp, all then no /etc/resolv.conf file exists on the system and DNS completely fails 2.If linuxrc.config has netsetup=dhcp then it populates /etc/resolv.conf with only the first IP address contained in the /var/lib/dhcp-eth0.info file 2b. If linuxrc.config has netsetup=dhcp and settings.txt contains nameserver=X, same results as #2, but it should read settings.txt and set that instead. 3. If settings.txt has netsetup=-dhcp with hostip, netmask, gateway set properly for a static IP environment and settings.txt also has nameserver=X Y Z, then resolv.conf is blank. If nameserver contains only one IP address, i.e. nameserver=X, then /etc/resolv.conf does contain the proper information and DNS works. I have also tried quotation marks as well, i.e. nameserver="X Y Z", but have the same results. Hopefully, this explains everything clearly. Let me know if there is any confusion. Also, can you answer the question... If netsetup=dhcp is set, is it supported to also configure manually the nameserver=X Y Z in the settings.txt. In the current code, it seems that it does support DHCP and manually configuring DNS name servers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
