https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=277334 Summary: Installation from DVD fails on Asus P5W DH Deluxe & JMicron IDE controller Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell@stapff.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com On my Asus P5W DH Deluxe the IDE DVD-ROM (Samsung SH-D162) is connected to the JMicron controller chip (JMB 363). All hard disks are connected to the Intel ICH7, configured to run in AHCI mode. Installing from DVD (burned from a downloaded image) results in a error message, that the installation DVD can not be found. At this stage the USB keyboard is not functional (Legacy support is activated in the BIOS), so that no manual intervention can be made. After copying the contents of the DVD to the hard disk and setting the installation source to "disk" in the boot menu of the DVD (keyboard is OK at that state), the installation runs without problems. In this case (with parameter splash=verbose) you can see, that the module pata_jmicron is loaded without an error. Bios Version is 2004. The JMicron Controller is enabled in the BIOS, Controller Mode is "BASIC" and the boot ROM is enabled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
