https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=254705 Summary: git package has weird dependencies (gnu arch, cvsps...) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pbaudis@novell.com ReportedBy: anicka@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Package git depends on gnu arch, cvs and gitk. Assuming that a git user usually does not want to have tla installed, I think this is a bug. This is how dependencies look like: tla is needed by git-arch-1.4.3.4-20.x86_64 git-arch is needed by git-1.4.3.4-20.x86_64 git-cvs is needed by git-1.4.3.4-20.x86_64 cvsps is needed by git-cvs-1.4.3.4-20.x86_64 gitk is needed by git-1.4.3.4-20.x86_64 I took a quick look into the git spec: Requires: git-core, git-svn, git-cvs, git-arch, git-email, gitk I think that requiring everything except git-core on this line does not make sense. When someone installs git, he probably expects to have a working git (it means the content of git-core) and not all the importing tools in the world with loads of dependencies. BTW, git package itself contains only README. So in fact we have a README file depending on tla and so on, which IMHO does not make sense at all ;) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
