https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=251059 Summary: The monitor screen goes blank when I start Sax2 or log out/restart the computer through SUSE Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: john13to@gmail.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com I have an ATI Radeon X800GT card and I had to follow the instructions on the page http://en.opensuse.org/Howto/ATI_Driver to install the right drivers on openSUSE 10.2. Yes, the installation went great, no troubles on the way and yes I got the right card displayed on the terminal when I type fglrxinfo and glxinfo: john@linux-1dbu:~> fglrxinfo display: :0.0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: RADEON X800 GT OpenGL version string: 2.0.6334 (8.34.8) But when I start Sax2 or Graphics config i YaST to change the resolution, the monitor screen turns off and it is all black. Same thing when I reset the computer from SUSE or log off from SUSE. It turns normal again when I hard reset the computer and I get a displeasing resolution at 1280x1024 with 60 Hz at the login mode. I want it to be at 1024x768 with 85 Hz. I also followed the troubleshooting steps at the same page but that didnt solve the problem. The monitor is a Nokia 444Za CRT screen. It says like this on the monitor when I type in hwinfo: linux-1dbu:/var/log # hwinfo --monitor 34: None 00.0: 10000 Monitor [Created at fb.71] Unique ID: rdCR.EY_qmtb9YY0 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "Generic Monitor" Vendor: "Generic" Device: "Monitor" Resolution: 1024x768@76Hz Driver Info #0: Max.
