https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=248665 Summary: No DRM support with ATI 9200 Pro (rv280) on (with solution) Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: swesemeyer@hotmail.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com I have a Presario 1229UK AMD64 desktop PC which comes with a SiS760 chipset. This includes an on-board graphics card (ultra256 2D/3D). I bought an ATI 9200 Pro graphics card for it as I knew it was supported by the opensource radeon Xorg driver. However, 3D performance under 10.2 (as measured by glxgears) was a 4th of what I got when I used Kanotix. I check dmesg and found the following error: [drm:radeon_cp_init] *ERROR* radeon_cp_init called without lock held which meant- according to the guide at http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/DriTroubleshooting that I wasn't loading the appropriate module for my chipset. Checking the modules that got loaded I found that amd64_agp and sis_agp both got loaded whereas Kanotix only loaded the amd64_agp module. Putting sis_agp into /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist solved my problem. Since then I have proper 3D performance. My question is: Did something somewhere misconfigure my installation because I have effectively 2 graphics card (the on-board one which is disabled by the fact that I have an AGP one)? BTW this bug sounded like Bug 213840 but I'm not sure whether it is the same problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
