Just in case you prefer a free solution, do what thousands of other Linux users do and ask in a user forum which is *not* maintained by a Linux distributor. This helps to prevent running Linux distributors into legal problems.
I like to point out if developers can ask themselve the question why a user is going to the trouble to post even a bug report to developers about the current implementation of Totem. Thousends of users find their way to a forum just to resolve the problem using SUSE tools for their dayly media use. Thousands more even dont, just abandon SUSE after one or a few tries. Not just because there are licensing issues why they cant play their favorite mediatypes out of the box. If for the default player Totem the system even lacks any form of information how to configure Totem to use codecs, I concider we fail to make SUSE user friendly and a good OS for the users. The simple solution: inform users from within SUSE.
You're not removing .wmv, .asf etc. either, for the same reason, as it doesn't help users.
Thus explain to the users why Totem is anyway the default player, even if it can not play these files out of the box. Cars have explainations it needs fuel, how to fill them with fuel and what kind or fuel. And that is even in the situation where the users are as good as known to have the knowledge cars will not to run without fuel "out of the box" and how to provide it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
