Summary: 4(!) instances of avahi-discover in the desktop menu
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Alpha 0plus
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: GNOME
AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx

avahi-discover is displayed 4 times(!) in the desktop menu:

Internet/Administration/Avahi Zeroconf Browser
System/Monitor/Avahi Zeroconf Browser
Utilities/Desktop/Avahi Zeroconf Browser
System/Network/Avahi Zeroconf Browser

Reason: Excess usage of the "Categories" key in avahi-discover.desktop.

Suggested fix:

-%suse_update_desktop_file avahi-discover GNOME Application System Utility
Network Monitor Settings
+%suse_update_desktop_file -r avahi-discover GNOME System Monitor

"Application" is a nonsense category (desktop-file-validate even warns about
it), "Settings" is just wrong because avahi-discover doesn't allow setting
anything and the spec mentions "System" as the correct place for network
monitors (which is what it is, as avahi-discover can only monitor things, but
not set anything):

http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/menu-spec-1.0.html

System: System application, "System Tools" such as say a log viewer or network
monitor
Monitor: Monitor application/applet that monitors some resource or activity
System
