https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=239613 Summary: Adding of update source via rug or YaST2 fails if a proxy with authentication is used Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Zenworks AssignedTo: zlm-code10-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se QAContact: sarifulla@novell.com The addition of an update source failed during openSUSE 10.2 installation when a proxy with user authentication was used. I don't remember the error message exactly, I guess it was related to a problem with XML metadata. Later, I tried to fix the problem manually: nestor:~ # rug sa -t zypp http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2 SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates Adding zypp service... 0% ERROR: Could not add 'http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2': Failed to parse XML metadata: Can't add repository at http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2: Unknown source type for http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2 I changed the proxy settings in YaST2 so that a proxy that didn't require user authentication was used. The command succeeded then: nestor:~ # rug sa -t zypp http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2 SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates Adding zypp service... 100% Successfully added service 'http://suse.inode.at/pub/update/10.2' I defined the proxy with user authentication again and "rug update" seems to work. Notes: 1. I observed the same problem during at least two openSUSE 10.2 installations. 2. Adding the update source manually via YaST2 -> Online Update Configuration ended with the same error. 3.
