https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228687 ------- Comment #3 from sndirsch@novell.com 2006-12-15 09:39 MST ------- ATI made it pretty clear I think. Here are M. Tippett's words about this. "With the 8.29 release, ATI will be retiring support for R200 class hardware in ATI's Proprietary Linux driver. This follows shortly on from the Windows driver which had R200 support removed a few releases ago. As some of you may have experienced, ATI has been focusing less on the R200 support as we have been increasing our stability and features of the driver focused primarily on R300 and beyond. Since ATI's Linux drivers share a large portion of code with the Windows drivers, the retiring of support on the Windows drivers increasing the risk for R200 support with every release. This will affect the FireGL 8800, Radeon 8500, 9000, 9100, 9200, 9250, Mobility Radeon 9000, 9200 and FireMV 9200 PCI. For those users with R200 class hardware, the Open Source driver on X.Org has solid support for R200 class hardware based on ATI's previous disclosure of programming information. [...]. The R200 support will exist in a branch and may have periodic releases for various reasons. For those who wish to track new kernel support with the stock Proprietary driver, the firegl_public.[ch] should maintain compatibility with the final 8.28.8 release for quite some time." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
