https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226397 Summary: Race condition between powersave and its scripts result in defunct processes Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: hmacht@novell.com ReportedBy: hmacht@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: seife@novell.com, hschaa@novell.com Once in a while I notice that scripts executed by the powersave daemon such as set_disk_settings or thinkpad_acpi_events are in state 'defunct'. I'm sure this was introduced with a patch that tried to make this 'forking <--> script returning' mechanism more secure ;-) But it seems it failed ;-) I were never able to reproduce this behaviour on purpose. This makes it really hard to debug. Due to the fact that the powersave daemon won't do that much with suspend, cpufreq, etc, I will revert the patch to restore the old bahaviour which worked too. The work we would have to put into this would just not be worth the efforts. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
