https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=220358 Summary: Separate kernel modules from kernel image Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: erik@hensema.net QAContact: qa@suse.de When upgrading a kernel, the kernel modules are deleted. This means the running kernel won't be able to load modules anymore. Also, the kernel on the installation medium will be useless to boot the installed system. Therefore, at most three sets of kernel modules should be installed: - modules of the installation kernel - modules of the currently running kernel - modules of the currently installed kernel This is a robustness enhancement. It also saves reboots on updates that don't affect your particular situation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
