https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=215206 Summary: Kernel version mismatch Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: microchip@chello.be QAContact: qa@suse.de Hi, today I got new kernel updates from http://software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel/SUSE_Linux_10.1/ . I went on installing them using zen-updater and the installation was successful. However, after installation I found out that the new kernel had the same version as the previous one that I used, which was 2.6.18-rc5-1.2-default but when I went to the above repository, I saw it was 2.6.18-rc5-1.4 (the same one the zen-updater reported). Also 'uname -r' still reports my previous version. The other thing is that the new kernel source that I installed does not match the new kernel in the repository. The kernel source was version 2.6.18.1-24. After I found out this, I then wanted to recompile my nvidia driver for the newly installed kernel, but the nvidia script complained about a kernel source mismatch and exited. I think you guys should be much more careful when releasing new kernels with their sources as this can break a lot of systems. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
