https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214264 Summary: ZMD unresponsive, filling /var/tmp with thousands of temporary files. Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 5 plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Zenworks AssignedTo: zlm-code10-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: one_way@online.de QAContact: jtariq@novell.com With the current factory releases of ZMD/libzypp, I encounter the following problem: Symptoms: 1. ZMD is running ("rczmd status" shows that), but it cannot be stopped ("rczmd stop" gives a failure message after some time). The zmd-logfile, however, faithfully records the helpless user's attempt to stop the demon ;). The process has to be killall -9'ed. 2. ZMD cannot be contacted (e.g. "rug ping" hangs forever). 3. top shows processes like "parse-metadata" and "gpg" running and consuming CPU time. 4. /var/tmp is filled with zillions of temporary files called "TmpFile.*" and temporary directories "TmpDir.*" as soon as ZMD is running. The files seemingly contain PGP data. The count of such files exceeds the number of installed RPMs by far. Attempt to heal the system: 1. Uninstall zmd and libzypp-stuff 2. Deleted all files and directories in /var and /etc which seemed to have connections with the delinquents 3. Reinstall zmd/zypp-stuff 4. Same situation :( Package versions (all AMD64): libzypp-2.4.1-2 libzypp-zmd-backend-7.1.1.0_0.4-16 zmd-7.1.100.0-17 rug-7.1.100.0-6 gpg-1.4.5-10 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
