------- Comment #4 from admin@eregion.de 2006-10-03 13:48 MST -------
it didn't work (at least not through the agent):
mathias@pippin:~> eval $(LANG="" gpg-agent --daemon --log-file ~/gpg-agent.log)
mathias@pippin:~> LANG="" gpg -s apache.txt
You need a passphrase to unlock the secret key for
user: "Mathias Homann "
1024-bit DSA key, ID 27BD763C, created 2003-03-17
gpg: problem with the agent - disabling agent use
mathias@pippin:~> killall gpg-agent
mathias@pippin:~> cat gpg-agent.log
2006-10-03 21:41:24 gpg-agent[25625] command get_passphrase failed: Unknown
system error
2006-10-03 21:41:40 gpg-agent[25625] SIGTERM received - shutting down ...
2006-10-03 21:41:40 gpg-agent[25625] gpg-agent (GnuPG) 1.9.18 stopped
this is all that is in that logfile.
doing the same with adding --verbose to the gpg-agent options produces:
2006-10-03 21:43:24 gpg-agent[26142] listening on socket
`/tmp/gpg-ipiwi2/S.gpg-agent'
2006-10-03 21:43:30 gpg-agent[26143] handler 0x54e5e0 for fd 0 started
2006-10-03 21:43:30 gpg-agent[26143] starting a new PIN Entry
2006-10-03 21:43:39 gpg-agent[26143] command get_passphrase failed: Unknown
system error
2006-10-03 21:43:39 gpg-agent[26143] handler 0x54e5e0 for fd 0 terminated
2006-10-03 21:43:49 gpg-agent[26143] SIGTERM received - shutting down ...
2006-10-03 21:43:49 gpg-agent[26143] gpg-agent (GnuPG) 1.9.18 stopped
I'll attach a strace -f output of the running agent during the time when
signing fails, too
