My frame of reference is Solaris. If you want to keep a log from an installation task, you just put /a in front of wherever you want the log. So, logs in /var/tmp would be written to /a/var/tmp during the installation. Where are they during a SuSE install? How can I specify one if there are none? I started to just do an exec >> logfile but I don't know where the installed image is during the install. I have seen some docs that say /mnt/sysimage but I am not sure. Also, what is the trick to getting the root password set? No matter what I have tried, it just won't set it! I'm thinking of just using sed in a post-install script but thought I would ask here first.
