Hi, I've been trying to setup the various things needed for a functional SuSE autoinstallation repository server, but I can't get the client to start installing. Some things work. The client gets an ip-address from the DHCP server and successfully mounts the exported install directory (with all the packages from the CDs), loads and starts the kernel (and I can see that the client has got the correct kernel command line parameters as specified in my config file "default" for pxelinux). However when the kernel has started nothing else happens. The messages in the first virtual terminal ends with: ... VFS: Mounted root (minix filesystem). Moving into tmpfs... done. ramdisk /dev/ram0 freed
SuSE Linux installation program v1.4 (c) 1996-2003 SuSE Linux AG <<<
I would have expected some graphical installation to start, but nothing happens. The third virtual terminal (ALT-F3) tells me the client has found the network server and successfully mounted the install directory, and then ends with: ... going for automatic install mount: /var/adm/mount/boot/root: we need a loop device mount: using /dev/loop0 rmmod usb-storage starting /mounts/instsys/sbin/inst_setup yast The fourth virtual terminal (kernel messages?) says it's trying to access both floppy and cdrom (should it?), and ends with: ... Sep 7 16:01:11 (none) kernel: cdrom: open failed Sep 7 16:01:11 (none) kernel: md: Autodetecting RAID arrays Sep 7 16:01:11 (none) kernel: md: autorun ... Sep 7 16:01:11 (none) kernel: md: ... autorun DONE. It seems to me that the client understands it should do an automatic install but that perhaps it does not get hold of the control file. How can I tell? Nothing else happens. what should happen next? Any help would be highly appreciated. /Anders
