Try booting with irqpoll as a boot parameter. ACPI may be setting up
the wrong interrupts. This seems related to the nForce3 chipset or ASUS.

It seems to have fixed my ASUS L5D laptop which also have an nForce3
chipset; and it also have lockups under "high" interrupt (network)
