Hi Sue, I have been feeling to same way, and just bought Gentoo. I haven't made a firm decision yet; I've spent over a year trying to get it together and feel that this time I could have completed my project under M$. But the thought of going through yet another a learning curve is beyond a joke. As for your going back to 9.1 ..... I generally try to write down what I do during installation (the worst part is keeping track of the 'trial and error' bits) then, when I'm in trouble I just reformat and re-install. Done it lots of times - a pain in the proverbial, and very time consuming, but it works. I had a disaster with 9.0 A total waste of money and got zero support from SuSE (a 'run around' in fact). I get cross with stupid programmers: 9.0 Machine reads the DVD for 15 minutes, then the programmer changes access method and promptly says "Can't read DVD". 9.1 Operating system and lots of applications install properly with full graphic capability active for over an hour, then programmer says "Can't get screen dimensions, changing to 0 x 0" and promptly crashes. Anyway, why are you using Linux? My reasons are M$ takes control of my future, and I need 64 bit for my mathematics. Hence I feel stuck with SuSE. So, before you jump, think about what you need and perhaps somebody here can help. Good luck, Regards, Colin
