I had the exact same problem, that is the sound in KDE doesn't work after updating KDE from 3.4 to 3.4.1. ALSA still works since I can play music in XMMS when using the ALSA sound output option, but Amarok and Juk are not able to play any music due to this sound problem. Another thing is that I always get is a dialogue telling me that Knotify has a conflict with Arts and it asks me if I want to disable Arts. Not sure what's going on.
I have an nvidia gforce audio 3 onboard a gigabyte k8 triton, ga-k8nnxp. The sound simply would not start using yast->hardware->sound. When I added a second ALSA dummy card, both started(!). Now sound works if start the player (such as juk) as root but not as myself. I don't understand what is happening either. Sound was working asfter upgrading to suse 9.3 using the dvd but (I'm guessing) the online update screwed up something.

I had the same problem. I completely redid the upgrade but then lost the sound card. Did you install the multimedia option packs 1-4? I wonder if they were the problem since during installation there was a pop-up window which said that they may have dependency problems.

Hello all,
I got very many conflicts on a YAST package update to kde 3.4.1.
I downloaded the yast-sources files from
ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.3/yast-source / and
ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/upd ate_for_9.3/yast-source
set the install source to the local directory and start "Install and Remove Software". Then I marked all new packages to be upated. Yast reports me over 800 lines of "not fulfilled dependences", but the missing files and packages are installed.
Example: Conflict with amarok 1.2.4-3 not fulfilled dependences: amarok needs libmusicbrainz.so.4 amarok needs libsqlite3.so.0 amarok needs libtunepimp.so.2
but: locate libmusicbrainz.so.4 libsqlite3.so.0 libtunepimp.so.2 /usr/lib64/libmusicbrainz.so.4.0.0 /usr/lib64/libsqlite3.so.0 /usr/lib64/libtunepimp.so.2
rpm -qal | grep libmusicbrainz.so.4 /usr/lib64/libmusicbrainz.so.4 /usr/lib64/libmusicbrainz.so.4.0.0
A update in the same way on 32bit system under SUSE 9.3 works fine.
Does have anybody a hint for me ?
Thanks, Werner Franke
