I found the solution. It appears that a patch that was applied through YOU added an extra line to /etc/pam.d/login which was causing the problem. bsiarc1:/etc/pam.d # cat login #%PAM-1.0 auth requisite pam_unix2.so nullok #set_secrpc auth required pam_securetty.so auth required pam_nologin.so #auth required pam_homecheck.so auth required pam_env.so auth required pam_mail.so account required pam_unix2.so password required pam_pwcheck.so nullok password required pam_unix2.so nullok use_first_pass use_authtok session required pam_unix2.so none # debug or trace session required pam_limits.so #AMB session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so <---- This is the line that I commented to make it work. bsiarc1:/etc/pam.d # -Alain. -----Original Message----- From: Black, Alain [mailto:ablack@bloodsystems.org] Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 9:37 AM To: suse-amd64@suse.com Subject: [suse-amd64] Problem with telnet on SLES8 x86-64 I'm running SLES8 SP3 on a dual opteron system. We need to have telnet available for a couple of internal users (all root level login is done through ssh). We used to have telnet working, now however when we attempt to telnet to the machine we get the following error. Welcome to SuSE SLES 8 (powered by UnitedLinux 1.0) (AMD64) Kernel 2.4.21-212-smp (3). bsiarc1 login: p103saab Password: Module is unknown Connection to host lost. Is anyone familiar with this error or know where I should start looking? -Alain -- Check the List-Unsubscribe header to unsubscribe For additional commands, email: suse-amd64-help@suse.com
