Over the past couple weeks I've been noticing my system locking up more and more. I could be in the middle of something and BAM! everything freezes. In looking at the logs, all I see in /var/log/messages is: Oct 7 09:23:40 Sun-linux kernel: hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Oct 7 09:23:40 Sun-linux kernel: hda: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC } The next message has to do with me restarting.
I'm running SL 9.1 64-bit on a Sun W1100z. Any thoughts?
Bad disk sectors? There should be I/O errors logged too then. Use package smartmontools to investigate the disk. Also check for bad cabling and contacts. Volker -- Volker Kuhlmann is possibly list0570 with the domain in header http://volker.dnsalias.net/ Please do not CC list postings to me.
