I have just purchased an new computer fitted with an AMD64 and SUSe 9.0 professional to go on it. Unfortunately SUSE does not find the hard drive when I try to install it.
The mother board is manufactured by Micro-Star International and is K8T Neo MIS-6702 version 1.0. the hard drive is a Seagate 120gb at 7200rpm with serial ATA. I believe the SATA is the problem.
Can anyone advise me how to get SUSE installed. I suspect the SATA needs a driver, if so where do I get it, (is there one available)? and how is it installed.?
There is a patchCD iso image with a kernel that supports SATA on ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/9.0-PatchCD Just use it to boot, after you entered the settings for installation, you will be asked for the 9.0 DVD.
Any help gratefully accepted

ps: Would another way out of the problem, be to fit another hard drive but with ATA 100 (the mother board will allow this)i nstead of trying to put SUSE on the SATA drive. If I did this will there be any problems with the SUSE installer finding the second drive.?
You will need a new kernel anyways.
