SUSE installer fails to detect the Raid-0 set created at SiliconImage 3114 controller.
Thank you very much, a priori.
The problem is that the Silicon Image 3114 controller is not supported by 2.4-Kernels (as the installer is using). Even trying it out with Kernel 2.6.0-rc3 last week on my machine requires a patch from the LKML to get at least the first 2 S-ATA channels working. At the moment I don't even think about trying out an installation on RAID, the installation is on an old fashioned IDE disk and I just try out things to get all the S-ATA channels working. Silicon Image is offering bianry drivers for download, but they are for SuSE 8.1 and SuSE 8.2 and so very outdated. I wrote a question to SiI support if they intend to distribute actual drivers or at least put their specs under non-NDA conditions so that open source developers could fix the problems. But so far now answer from SiI. Regards Rainer -- Dipl.-Inf. (FH) Rainer Koenig Project Manager Linux Fujitsu-Siemens VP BC E SW OS Phone: +49-821-804-3321 Fax: +49-821-804-2131
