You need to create a new /etc/modprobe.conf
via command:
/sbin/generate-modprobe.conf | tee /etc/modprobe.conf
Yes. This will make a modprobe.conf based on your modules.conf.
And what about is with MAKEDEV for device nodes?
This makes some changes in /dev for sound related stuff. You may not need this for 9.0, I did need it on my 8.2 32bit.
I cannot load or use sound modules on ASUS Laptop (32-Bit) and Shuttle AMD64. There are the same problems (cannot found symbols).
I did run
depmod -a
Actually, 2.6 wants depmod -ae
already.
Where can I read about new sound module options?
modinfo <module name> Note that 2.6 comes with Alsa .9.7. After .9.3 there was a change in the way OPTIONS were passed to the module. Basically you need to remove the snd_ before the options in modprobe.conf.
