Hello Joe, many thanks for your informations and help!
Actually, 2.6 wants depmod -ae Yes, I did it now. modinfo <module name> Note that 2.6 comes with Alsa .9.7. After .9.3 there was a change in the way OPTIONS were passed to the module. Basically you need to remove the snd_ before the options in modprobe.conf. I did delete all lines, which contain snd_ from modprobe.conf. Than it works on ASUS Laptop L3800C (32 bit) and my Shuttle AMD 64. From where should I know about that?
DMA for SATA is detected automatically and it seems to work. Fine! But it is a hard work to run the kernel 2.6 because I don't have enougth informations from SuSE to include them in SuSE 9.0 without problems. It is shining a bad light to Kernel 2.6. But there are other problems with USB mass storage and ppp...... and /dev/ttyUSB0 for RS232 connections with modem. It is very hard. ......................................
More info on the ALSA website. NOT found.
