Hi Brian,
thanks for your quick response.
Yes, you are right, the Wiki-Link I supplied is a bit outdated and I
will work on fixing this. This has to do with the fact, that this
mirroring service went through several hands in our community in the
past and now, I was the one who took over rsync.o.o to keep this service
alive and running for you. Just to remind you, I'm doing this fixing in
my free time - not being paid by anybody for it.
No need to be rude or impolite, just a fact, that's it.
I read the document several times, but it looks like I didn't change the
links to this external website yet, that some of our members put some
time ago. This is fixed now and put to an official place on our
infrastructure - mirrors.opensuse.org.
See here for more info now:
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_infrastructure#rsync_modules
Please keep in mind, that rsync.o.o can't offer all modules, as we have
limited space in our sponsored data center there.
Furthermore, if you want to get access to stage.o.o and want to apply
for it, please keep in mind, that you must provide a public facing
mirror, to do so.
I wish you a nice day and all the best.
Best regards,
Thorsten

Did you actually read the reference document you just invoked,
"openSUSE Hero"?
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_infrastructure does list
buildservice-repos for rsync.opensuse.org
Although obviously it's not really there any more.
The page also sort of says that the buildservice repos are
available by rsync from download.opensuse.org, but they are not. It
doesn't explicitly say that. The link under the word "repositories"
only goes to more http links, but the text on the page says rsync
and "modules" and in fact those rsync modules used to exist just as
the page describes.
Basically, that document is garbage as a reference. Don't use it in
any arguments about who did what wrong.
"It would be great" if you hadn't broken things that people were
using.
In any event, yes I have updated my mirror script both to not try
to pull from that protocol & path any more, and to handle failure
better in the future. Also I will look into this push support that
is described there, instead of polling. Assuming that is not also
incorrect like half the rest of the page.
