Dia does this. You may want to add a few more objects. Work stations are only a monitor, no keyboard. It comes with documentation on how to create new objects in doc/custom-shapes. The file format is XML and SVG so you can create new objects with an editor. I am using it for UML class diagrams for several hundred objects with no crashes. Jeffrey Quoting Steven T. When you see someone happy with almost monochromatic design of openSUSE, one would think of minor, or complete, lack of senses for other colors. When you see someone happy with many colors that normal vision perceives as screaming, maybe they look fair in artists vision. There is many ways vision can be better, or worse then normal, which gives many ways people can misunderstand each other. People that skilfully juggle with pages of text (code) don't need flow diagrams, and those that read code don't need manuals. Problem is that many that juggle the code are not that skilled, so they are better off using flow diagrams, and conversely, even when you read code, you have to memorize symbols that other people introduced, which can lead to overload, errors and misunderstandings. In extreme case, those that never learned and practiced methods to improve ability to wrestle with a code, nor have natural talent to deal with symbols, are left in a dust without flow diagrams and manuals. Their need to feel in control of machine has no hooks in reality when they can't change even decorations, and that is about the same feeling they have with preinstalled operating system. In other words people with this user profile and motivation to use Linux, will not find any satisfaction in Linux. Bad is: that is the most common profile among computer users. Once you have built a few items, like IC's, transistors, etc., you can use them again and again. It makes nice square boxes for block diagrams, and the ortho mode makes nice square-cornered lines on schematics. It's nice for circuit-board traces, with its programmable line widths, and it makes nice microwave circuits with the pline command, as well as making large microwave objects and filling them in with solid. First problem - the order of the slots is up to the BIOS. I have a multi-graphic card system in which the manufacturer of the processor card fixed a fault, resulting in the order of the cards getting reversed. Second problem - the order that eth0,1 and 2 are alocated will depend on the order that the associated hardware is loaded ( I think ). Certainly I don't think eth0 and eth1 would be reallocated if eth2 is added later and uses a card slot that would normally have been found first. Why on earth would anyone want to use a general-purpose drawing program like dia, or a mechanical drawing program like Autocad or Qcad, for electronics? At home and for consulting I use kicad for electronics and Qcad for mechanical drawing, and oodraw or dia for things like block diagrams or flowcharts. The times are gone when you're forced to go to the Evil Empire for any but the most advanced or specialized cad, or (as I am forced to) when your employer or client requires one of the Windows systems. Malcom ... Good find. I am sending a copy to TrippLite Tech Support for verification. Unlike the previous web site, the cable depicted at the following web site (you provided) seems to match my measurements, and the documentation for genericups 5. http://www.exploits.org/nut/library/tripplite.html The ups software changes the RTS line pin-7 to +12v, and leaves DTR line pin-4 at -12v. Yet the diagram says +V. So, not everything adds up for me. To a computer person, the pin-assignments on the TrippLite (and other UPS units) and associated cables seem rather odd -- evidently not designed by a comphter hardwre person. But then, the computer hardware designers did not use pin-1 as ground, which is an unwritten electronic standard. TrippLite did stick with pin-1 as ground. Now if I could just understand why my computer does not shut down when I simulate contact closures... ...
