I don't know what "application launcher," unless you mean the choices that come up when you click on the smiling black ball at the corner of the desktop. The apps I use frequently I have put on the desktop as icons.Two of them are only able to be placed on the panel. Google Earth can be coaxed into the menu, but does not appear on it spontaneously. The quoted log that Doug posted clearly indicates that he does not have any repositories containing a package called lgrep. Neither do I. Perhaps you do. But what mattered is what Doug has and he has previously showed us a log of installing lgrep as part of the lv package. So that is what he needs to remove, not some mythical other package from some mythical non-standard repository. I want a system that is continuously updated, and always current--that's why TW. And I'm not new to Linux--I used PCLOS for years until they castrated it. I had things working pretty well, but then I had to reinstall the system and some of the things that seemed to work pretty well in the 2019 version seem to be more difficult (or missing) in 2020. Example: I can't find how to stop the screen from going to full size when an app goes to the edge-- the command seems to be missing in the 2020-0826 version. If you look at the original post, it was lgrep, which didn't work. Then I ran grep -i etc. having looked up grep in "Linux in a Nutshell" my Linux reference book. But it turns out there actually is an lgrep in the system, and I installed it and ran it with the same result--nada. I'm beginning to wonder if this was a fluke, but it happened twice.
