[zypp-devel] Some feedback from the MeeGo Conference 2010 in Dublin
First, it seems MeeGo has finally decided to adopt the zypp stack as their default software managment solution. Hurray! Here is some feedback i got after the zypp talk [1] and during the conference. Mostly they were small enhancements or fixes that people miss after switching from yum: * limit the number of multiversion pkgs installed (yum has that) * install source rpm file into home dir, without root (yum has that) * package cache proxy - one more vote for making a package cache proxy setup easy on zypp-managed machines * we should support multiple values for various keys in .repo files as yum does, looking at `man yum.conf`, this would be gpgkey, but i have a feeling we were discussing also something else (maybe the way how baseurl and mirrorlist work together) I asked the people to report these things in our bugzilla. There was also a question about managing software remotely from one machine on another machine, usually having different architecture and not having zypp. This question comes from a specific need to manage software on all the little devices. Unfortunately i don't have more details on this. Hopefully we'll see more feedback and also patches (like the libproxy support) in the months to come! For example getting the python bindings in good shape would be really mutually beneficial.
