[zypp-devel] Enabling Hudson feeding obs://zypp:Code11_2-Branch for 11.2/SLE11-SP1 submission

Hi! Factory is moving on, and it looks like the current libzypp code does not build with factories new gcc. So it's time to setup a new build and test environment on Hudson, that builds for code_11.2. Packages will then be autopmatically submitted to obs://zypp:Code11_2-Branch which will be the source for future submissions to obs://openSUSE:11.2:Update and obs://SUSE:SLE-11:SP1. By Monday it should look like this: git branch OBS fed by Hudson OBS ========== ================= === origin/HEAD -> zypp:Head -> openSUSE:Factory origin/HEAD (*) -> zypp:Code11_2-Branch -> openSUSE:11.2:Update origin/HEAD (*) -> zypp:Code11_2-Branch -> SUSE:SLE-11:SP1 origin/SuSE-Code-11-Branch -> zypp:Code11-Branch -> openSUSE:11.1:Update origin/SuSE-Code-11-Branch -> zypp:Code11-Branch -> SUSE:SLE-11 (*)NOTE: I will not yet branch in git, but this might be the next step. It mostly depends on what changes are needed to build again on Factrory. -- cu, Michael Andres +------------------------------------------------------------------+ Key fingerprint = 2DFA 5D73 18B1 E7EF A862 27AC 3FB8 9E3A 27C6 B0E4 +------------------------------------------------------------------+ Michael Andres YaST Development ma@novell.com SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) Maxfeldstrasse 5, D-90409 Nuernberg, Germany, ++49 (0)911 - 740 53-0 +------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help@opensuse.org

minor confusion on my part. to date, i've been tracking/using packages from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/mseben:/Factory/openSUSE_11.... http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/YaST:/Head/openSUSE_11.2 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/zypp:/Head/openSUSE_11.2 with, obviously, openSUSE_11.2. moving forward, staying on 11.2, must I switch one/all of these repos to obs://zypp:Code11_2-Branch? thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help@opensuse.org

- obs://zypp:Code11_2-Branch collects changes/bugfixes for the official 11.2 codebase. Whatever shows up there, may sooner or later be released as official online update for 11.2. If you follow this, you may get some enhancements/fixes a bit earlier then via the 11.2:Upades chanel. But the packages here did not yet pass all the QA. - obs://zypp:Head contains the beeding edge code. Currently the same as Code11_2, but we will soon branch and start development for 11.3 here. It will always contain the latest development features, but may sometimes turn out to be less stable. - download.opensuse.org/repositories/zypp:/Head/openSUSE_11.2 is the bleeding package management edge code (zypp:Head), but compiled against 11.2. Similar for YaST. It's mostly intended for users who want to use and test the latest package management (zypper) features, but do not want to follow Factory as a whole. ( Not intended - but following zypp:Head you should be able to download and install packages manually (without YaST/zypper); just in case we do something stupid. ) So it's up to you which codebase you want to follow. -- cu, Michael Andres +------------------------------------------------------------------+ Key fingerprint = 2DFA 5D73 18B1 E7EF A862 27AC 3FB8 9E3A 27C6 B0E4 +------------------------------------------------------------------+ Michael Andres YaST Development ma@novell.com SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) Maxfeldstrasse 5, D-90409 Nuernberg, Germany, ++49 (0)911 - 740 53-0 +------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help@opensuse.org
