Hello together, please read in my last emails, what ExklusiveArch is doing in this Spec File. Can it be really build for x86, if there is this restriction given? And s390-tools can be only used on Mainframes. It is kernel related. Yes. But it is filtering for s390x features by IBM. Therefore, it is also IBM developed. Best regards, Sarah

Hi Nikolay,
thanks - interesting to know that it's also built for x86_64. (AFAIK, this wasn't the case previously.)
@Sarah: Has s390-tools ever had an x86_64 build? And is there any reason why an x86_64 build for an s390x specific package is needed (at all)? (The only reason I could think of would be tools allowing you to remotely connect to a ZSystems instance *from* an x86_64 system. In case such tools are included in s390-tools, that particular subset of the s390-tools would indeed be useful on x86_64.)
Kind regards,
Holger

Hello,
Might be because that the s390-tools package has x86_64 build, too.
I do not have any "influence" why it is as it is on OBS.

Hi Nikolay,
thanks for the update. It's good to know that a new release has already been taken care of. Thanks for your effort/support. Much appreciated :-)
What were the reasons for moving the package the general Factory instead of leaving it in the ZSystems-specific one (openSUSE:Factory:zSystems)?
Kind regards,
Holger

Hello,
Currently, I am in process upgrading s390-tools to 2.34 on Factory. There is a Rust compilation error during the build process. IBM are working on patch to fix the issue. There is workaround suggested by IBM for the moment.
Kind regards,

Hi Raphael,
thanks for the hint regarding Fedora. Will have to look into the particular patch in more detail.
Kind regards,

Hi Holger,
FTR in Fedora, rebased successfully about two weeks ago. Be aware there has been an interim patch needed for prior version 2.33.1 but don't ask me for reason maybe Dan as maintainer knows better.

P. S. Reception from mailing list does work now for me, finally. Thanks again to Christian for the fix.

Hi Holger,
the package was in openSUSE zSystems in the past, but was changed to openSUSE Factory by the new Maintainer at SUSE.
The old package maintainer had also the required permissions to review and submit to openSUSE zSystems. I don't know, why the new Maintainer does not want to have any contact to us and therefore did not ask for the permissions.
SUSE is using an older kernel. Therefore, s390-tools are not on the top priority list by the new Maintainer.
I hope that makes the reasons clear. Best regards, Sarah
