Sarah,
CCing some Java experts.
The preferred Java for the platform should be Semeru Runtimes Open or Certified (both are available for s390x). Semeru Runtimes are available for Java 8, 11, 17, 18 (for Open Edition) and for Java 11 and 17 (Certified Edition). Eclipse Temurin is a raw build of OpenJDK but not as well optimized for the s390x platform, particularly in the areas of startup performance and memory consumption. While available and certified by Eclipse, it is not the preferred option.
Thank you for your feedback! Then we want to build it. I was not sure because of the "Certified" because, if I choose at https://developer.ibm.com/languages/java/semeru-runtimes/downloads/ the version 17, s390x and Linux, there is a "No" under Certified. Is that a bug in the web frontend or where is the certified version available? From the point of view of a Community Developer, I would prefer a "community certified" version instead a "not certified" version by IBM. But a big "Thank you!" for your feedback! I am enjoying this open collaboration between IBM and the different Linux communities (unimportant whether with you and Elizabeth on this mailing list, or with Ulrich included at the Linux Distributions Working Group).
Christian
Best regards, Sarah
