[yast-devel] sw_single/you constantly steals focus
Hi there, Can we have a patch to 10.3 for the module responsible to flash all those popups at the initialization of the sw_single and YOU tools? The report in question is: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=326158 Cheers, Ricardo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org

I think this is mostly yast2-gtk specific, yast2-qt under KDE does not steal focus. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org

KWin doesn't steal focus, but Compiz does - which is also used by KDE users. And unlike Metacity there isn't a patch for it, so I suggest the relevant YCP code be backported. If you guys don't want to bother, please close the bug report. Its not either specific to yast-gtk or yast-qt. The reason should be found and fixed :) But I leave that to the more YAST knowledgeable guys. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org

The progress handling was redone pretty heavily for Factory and I see no way of backporting this. If there is no easy fix for compiz, then I would indeed suggest to close it FIXED (for 11.0) I know some people would love us to fix 10.3 till it's perfect, but this just does not work out. Just for interest: What does YaST to prevent the window manager from stealing focus? I always had that problem with Xfce (xfwm4) and didn't see this as "bug" but more a "misdesign" in YaST because I expect new windows from being focussed if I don't activate "focus stealing prevention" in my window manager configuration. I completely reimplemented the callbacks, now the progress is displayed in the main window instead of popups. This is a large change so it won't be backported to 10.3.
