[yast-devel] what is the official YaST home page URL?
Hello, I like to enter an URL for the yast2-scanner RPM which points to the official YaST home page. What is the official URL for it? I.e. an URL which does not change from time to time. Is it something like http://en.opensuse.org/YaST http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/YaST http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?yast http://forgeftp.novell.com/yast/doc/SL10.2/index.html By the way: Searching for "yast" on http://www.novell.com/linux/ does not result anything which looks like a YaST home page. This page contains: For resources about YaST Development or how to develop YaST Modules, see YaST Development. [http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_Development]
This is an older page about YaST development. We still have external SVN and generated documentation and history of mailing-lists there.
This page the original YaST development project, party transformed to developer.novell.com/wiki. Forge administrators are still moving the content of projects from forge to developer.wiki and we can either influence the process or drop the project there (it would destroy that SVN, mailing-lists history and generated documentation mentioned above). BTW: this page contains: -> description Please, see http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/YaST
This is a generated documentation for openSUSE 10.2. You can use link http://forgeftp.novell.com/yast/doc/ to get all the generated documentation we have. My opinion is that we should try to move everything from developer.wiki to opensuse. But, for instance, what to do with that generated stuff? Now I use http://en.opensuse.org/YaST as URL in the RPM because it has an obvious link regarding development. I suggest that all YaST RPMs should have http://en.opensuse.org/YaST as the official starting point (perhaps except devel-only packages which may have http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_Development directly)?

Keep it as is and link from openSUSE to it? Wouldn't http://opensuse.org/YaST be better because it seems to be even more generic or is it useful to enforce English? That link takes you to the English wiki automatically anyway. I agree it would be really nice to have everything yast-related on openSUSE.org. I am forwarded to http://en.opensuse.org/YaST too but I don't know how it actually works. Perhaps it does some language magic so that it might forward to language specific pages? Nope, just like wikipedia it forwards to the default language (English) first. Methods such as auto-detecting languages for redirection would probably have undesirable consequences, like someone giving someone else a link to a page that doesn't exist (since it's a different language), etc. Kind thoughts, -- Francis Giannaros Web: http://francis.giannaros.org IRC: apokryphos on irc.freenode.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org
