I know that Josef, but I would like to see anybody to confirm behavior, and who might have the most interest to check, but developers. It doesn't take much time to check all of them. 1 & 2) 5-10 minutes - Katarina 3) 5 - 10 minutes whoever is responsible for that area. That will make sure that is not my misconfiguration, or knowledge, at fault and then there is a point to file bug report. I would use opensuse ML, but it doesn't guarantee any interest, any soon and the same is valid for bugzilla. Until we create testing team, or at least as part of it BugBusters, this appear to me the most logical place to discuss bugs that affect YaST. Another way to ask this kind of questions is on the #yast channel on IRC. I can imagine 3) is valid, but is very hard to verify - you need at least several repos with different priorities to check it. Stano

I'll try that way, too.

I made it with one KDE 4.2.2, and few other guys had the same problem. You get 4.1.3 version as available, although both repos are enabled and under auto refresh. The only difference is priority. When I think again, it could be not YaST problem, it is how additional repo is added. Is there option that can be included in ymp files to tell what priority repo should have when it is added? If not we have to document workaround on the wiki, ie. manually changing repo priority. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org

Sorry, too many things at once :-) Below, is yet another issue, nothing to do with case number 3.

To answer 1 & 2) The issue with large lists is known and there is a feature request to improve it (FATE #120360). The problem with TAB should be solved by using [STRG] + [F] and [STRG] + [B]. If you start 'yast' (the textmode control center) and press F1 a general help about textmode navigation is available.

Hola!
1) Left-Right cursor keys to scroll the list very slow when list is large.
This is well-known and old-standing limitation of yast2-ncurses. It performs very badly when it comes to large lists/tables. It could be somehow better with recent patches o'mine (in Factory) but - still not perfect :( Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a solution how to speed things up when I was maintaining yast2-ncurses ... Related bug, maybe worth reopening: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=suse30846
2) Shift TAB doesn't go backwards through the frames.
That is very unusual ... could be that your terminal or DE "eats" this key combination. If it does not work in any other YaST module, try Esc-Tab instead, or use Ctrl-F (forward) and Ctrl-B (backwards) to jump between the widgets. Here is a nice how-to on what to do if the usual keyboard navigation does not work as expected in your environment: http://www.novell.com/documentation/sles11/book_sle_admin/data/sec_yast_ncur... I'm still in preparations for the first hardware installation of Factory. VBox one is slow by itself and there is no point to attempt any test.

-- You are not authorized to access bug #45846.-- Maybe opening a new bug would be better :-) The problem I can see is probably due to attempt to handle whole list at once and then show result. I don't know what design limitations you had, but creating buffer with a whole list and then pull on the screen just selection of it that fits in the designated screen area should be much faster.

It is KDE 4.2.2 and problem is only in GUI terminal (Konsole). I found out that in the last second when I came on idea that it could be console related :-) Stano's post marked only the last of 3 questions as possible valid bug, which made me think why first 2 not. I don't use YaST-ncurses very often, and it took time to come on idea to switch to text mode (Ctrl-Alt-F2) and try there.

Can you please send in some testcase? I don't want you to write a sample YCP script, it is enough to tell in which module and with what data you see the slowdown (e.g. in package manager with ~1000 package in the list or alike) I've briefly tried something, and I can tell that it is not that ncurses tries to move the whole list around at once - it does not and it always refreshes only the visible portion of the window (NCPad::update -> copywin(), for those familiar with that code). So the bottleneck is somewhere else and we need to find out where ... YCP, I looked once and I'll skip it. So many other things to do. :-) I already opened the bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=498267
