[yast-devel] Added Localization Documentation
Hi all, I have added a new YaST documentation related to the Localization: http://yastgithubio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/localization/ It is basically a port of a similar documentation for WebYaST [1] to YaST. It is focused on the coding, e.g. how to use the _(), n_(), N_() translation marks. Enjoy! Lada P.s: AFAIK there is/was done some work related to generating the POT files automatically, it would be nice if somebody added that part to the new doc. TIA! A picture might be worth a thousand words. You've written around 400-450 including code examples. I myself sometimes search for this, so having it finally documented with examples is a great thing :) Thanks, well done! I just might have a few modifications: 1. There are two examples for "One package from %s", but if you just scan through the docs, you will not notice that the first one is actually wrong 2. It also doesn't explain why it's wrong (this will not work because) 3. "%{size} packages from %{repo}" is confusing, because it's not "size", it's if fact, number of packages (size is the method called on object packages), it should use %nr_of_packages or similar 4. "Translating Constants" is actually a little bit misleading, but I haven't found a better (and still short) headline for that Well yes, some are a bit of nitpicking... ;) Thx Lukas -- Lukas Ocilka, Systems Management (Yast) Team Leader SLE Department, SUSE Linux Sent from my openSUSE Tumbleweed https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Tumbleweed -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: yast-devel+owner@opensuse.org

It also would be nice to drop Translation [1] section from there, as it links to the wiki page [2] which is outdated (tells about committing to SVN) and obsolete (nothing links there, see [3]). Using translation, localization and internationalization terms in one document always makes me sad :( [1]http://yastgithubio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/translation/ [2]https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:YaST_translation [3]https://en.opensuse.org/Special:WhatLinksHere/openSUSE:YaST_translation -- Regards, Minton. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: yast-devel+owner@opensuse.org
