[yast-devel] Integrating Orca screen reader in to the openSUSE installer
Good evening. Could you integrate Orca into the openSUSE installer? Because I am blind and I would like to install openSUSE independently. cordially Kacper Gorski -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: yast-devel+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Kacper, I think in past it somehow worked ( I never try it ). I expect you are more experienced than we, so do you have idea what needs to be done to integrate it? I do not think that it makes it as common feature sponsored by SUSE, but it is option for hackweek project or as GSOC project ( you miss deadline for this year by few weeks ) and for it we need to have idea what needs to be done and also if you can define expected usage ( like having hardcoded shortcut that start screen reader, no mouse usage, only keyboard shortcuts and such requirements ), so we can test it properly. Thanks Josef -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: yast-devel+owner@opensuse.org

Josef, I can't imagine how you could expect a blind person to do all you ask independently (as he asked). A developer could emulate the problem by wearing a blindfold and trying installation himself. At least being able to see he could rescue himself as often as needed by tipping up the blindfold to discover what is needed. OP's forum post suggesting he ask here https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/529896-Is-it-possible-to-use-Orca... -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Whatever else you get, get wisdom."
