YaST: highlights of development sprints 133 & 134
October is being a busy month for the YaST Team. While we work on more internal refactoring, we have fixed quite some bugs and implemented several features. As quick summary, we can mention: - Improved handling of users on already installed systems - Progress in the refactoring of software management - Better selection of the disk in which to install the operating system - More robust handling of LUKS encrypted devices - Fixes for libYUI in some rare cases - Improvements in time zone management (affecting mainly China) Check the full report at https://yast.opensuse.org/blog/2021-10-26/sprints-133-134 Cheers -- Ancor González Sosa YaST Team at SUSE Linux GmbH
Hi, One more proposal to implement: * mouse in console/terminal (gpm) support within YaST ncurses mode. E.g. you can try to use "mc" with mouse in tty with "gpm" service enabled – It would be nice if YaST could also recognize mouse clicks as "Enter/Space" keys or in similar way. -- Regards Mindaugas

We have considered that in the past. But we would have to modify big parts of the ncurses backend of libyui (or implement a full alternative text-based backend from scratch). Since that implies quite a big effort, the idea is resting for the time being. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers. -- Ancor González Sosa YaST Team at SUSE Software Solutions
