[yast-devel] Whatever happened to....
Hey, Whatever happened to the discussion about a YaST re-write? Did we manage to discuss ourselves into oblivion and everyone lost their motivation? Hi, from my side I must say that I am busy with ATK1.2 release and afterwards there is SP2 features, so maybe just lots of work. But I plan at least during hackweek or department workshop to prototype some ideas I have and publish it for discussion. I would like to see a concrete view on how YaST should look like, behave, some examples of a module, examples on how you would write a module, or a simple dialog to ask for stuff, or an autoinstallation, and THEN.... I would think what technology to use. Right now the discussion was too focused on technology to grab my attention. At least myself I don't have much interest in rewriting the same using a different language. -- Duncan Mac-Vicar P. - Novell® Making IT Work As One™ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: yast-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: yast-devel+help@opensuse.org

I have prepared one view, but I think that prepare working prototype is better for demonstration and explanation. Pepa

I guess the discussion sleeps at the moment because everyone is busy with other stuff (e.g. SP2). I'm pretty sure the discussion will continue as soon as people have time for improvements. We should keep in mind that having parts in common with webyast will save maintenance work in the future.
