A way to escape this would be to place the odd (er, even) button outside the ButtonBox.
It would be quick but wrong solution. We wanted to have buttons placed and aligned according the current desktop type (Qt/GTK/ncurses). Check, for instance, KDE pop-up dialogs, they don't solve such things by putting `customButtons above. L.
