A way to escape this would be to place the odd (er, even) button outside the ButtonBox.
But you want the alignment functionality (in fact, the desktop independence in general) to retain. So, yes, it's a workaround. IMO the best would be to convert all such buttons to custom ones so the check will ignore this.
