yast2-qt with Context Menus

yast2-qt has support for context menus now. Context menus are supported by almost all UI frameworks and most people got used to them. Therefore it’s high time to provide context menus in the YaST Qt UI as well. yast2-qt-2.18.6 offers this feature, packages are available in my build service repository. In four simple steps YCP programmers can benefit from this new feature: Step 1: Create a widget and tell via `opt(`contextMenu) that a ContextMenuActivated Event should be emitted when the user right clicks the widget: `SelectionBox( `id(`sport), `opt(`notify,`immediate, `contextMenu), "Open a context menu:", [ "Item1", "Item2", "Item3" ] ); Step 2: Wait and analyze events: event = UI::WaitForEvent( ... ); ... if ( event["EventReason"]:”" == “ContextMenuActivated” ) ... Step 3: Open a context menu. The argument of OpenContextMenu() describes the menu structure: UI::OpenContextMenu( `menu( [ `item(`id(`folder), "&Folder" ), `menu( "&Document", [ `item(`id(`text), "&Text File" ), `item(`id(`image), "&Image" ) ]) ] )); Step 4: Analyze the returned `id and trigger an action. An example called ContextMenu.ycp is included in the package yast2-ycp-ui-bindings. Usability A Context menu provides shortcuts to actions for a certain widget or item. This features improves usability when it’s used properly. Application programmers should avoid making certain features only using context menus because users might not find them. Please keep in mind that YaST ncurses doesn’t provide context menus. Each operation that is only available via a context menu is useless in YaST ncurses because the user cannot select it. New branch SuSE-Code-11-Branch has been just created

Hi, I've just created a new *SuSE-Code-11-Branch* [1]. Please, use this branch for fixes for openSUSE 11.1 and SLE 11. We'll branch 11.1 when it is needed. The current *trunk* [2] should be used for upstream, e.g. openSUSE 11.2. Of course, fixes for SuSE-Code-11-Branch should go to trunk too (if applicable) [3]. Have a lot of fun! yast2-qt Title Bar Enhancements

I've added some enhancements to the title bar shown by the window manager in yast2-qt. Until now yast2-qt windows had names like YaST, YaST <2>, YaST <3>... That made it difficult to keep an overview of the open YaST modules. Most modules with wizards have there own desktop file with an icon and a list of localized names. The icon has been displayed in the title bar for a long time. The localized name can be used for the window title by now (libyui 2.17.12, qt 2.17.12, yast2 2.17.34). The command to make this happen is pretty simple. Similar to SetDesktopIcon you can use SetDesktopTitle to set the window title of a wizard. Example: Wizard::SetDesktopTitle("lan"); SetDesktopTitle searches for the desktop file in the directory /usr/share/applications/YaST2 and retrieves the localized name. This string is shown in the window title with a prepended "YaST2". If we want to benefit from this enhancement I'd like to ask the maintainers who use wizards to add this single line. Restarting YaST

Hi, I've just added a new possibility to restart any YaST module/client while running it from /sbin/yast(2). So far only 'online_update' and 'menu' could have been restarted. The new feature is in yast2-2.17.33. Restarting is easy: * Create /var/lib/YaST2/restart_yast file * Exit the module/client * --> YaST is restarted * Check whether the file exists (which means got 'restarted') * Remove that file Note: 'online_update' and 'menu' behave the same as before. Main translation round starts this week

Hi! The main translation round for SLE11 starts this week. Therefore I'd like to ask you to have as many string as possible submitted in autobuild by Thursday noon; afternoon I will generate the .pot-files for translations. Afterwards, try to limit the changes of strings to minimum in order not to waste the work of translators. Of course adding new texts is still possible if needed by late features of bugfixes. Annoucement: New built-in functions WFM::ClientExists(...) && getenv(...)

Hi, I've enabled the getenv() and implemented new WFM::ClientExists() functions recently. *getenv* (implemented by juhliarik) returns the current value if ENV variables which you can set using setenv [1]. *WFM::ClientExists* is similar to WFM::call [2] (without args) but instead of calling the client, it only returns whether client you want to call exists. This is very useful to prevent from runtime errors when running clients from another YaST modules, especially during installation. New documentation for these built-in functions will be available soon (next time we rebuild the documentation). Button Order

Fate #303446 covers a long-standing request: Support both GNOME and KDE button orders in YaST2. The UI now provides a new widget called ButtonBox that handles that in an abstract way. What we need to do now is to use that widget whereever appropriate.
