Hi, I have SuSE 9.0 running on a laptop (Dell Inspiron 1100) with the Intel Extreme Graphics chip (i845g I think). When I had Mandrake 9.0, the drivers from intel's website, and the ones from the DRI (dri.sf.net) project bothh worked great. When I try to install these same drivers in SuSE 9.0, X breaks. I have to install a new XFree86 binary from the DRI project with recent drivers, but the Intel.com ones are supposed to be a drop in replacement. Both drivers (from Intel and DRI project) complain about unresolved symbols in several libs in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules (such as libscanpci.a and libvbe.a) and I cannot get them to work. Would anyone have any idea why this is, or be able to propose a solution to the problem? Thanks, Chris
Hi, I have installed the xfree 4.3.0 rpm-package downloaded from the xfree86 site. The Xserver is working very fine now (on intel 845G chipset), but the graphical login is not working. While booting the console tells that kdm has loaded but there is no reaction. If I choose in Yast xdm as graphical login then I get the xfree graphical login. The command </opt/kde2/bin/kdm> gives no result. it just says "ok" :-) Thanks Zbigniew
