If you want to stick to this old distribution, try downloading the
nvidia proprietary driver. You will need the kernel sources of the
kernel you're running to install it.
After running X -configure, in the xorg.conf.new file,
driver "nv" is loaded
Don't use X -configure. sax2 does a much better job for that (use
'sax2 -r' in order to ignore your old configuration).
