but the touchpad-scrollareas not anymore... :-( and also the "click" feature of the touchpad doesn't work anymore. on a dell precision m6300 notebook, the scroll-areas at the right and bottom sides of the touchpad don't work anymore after the update. and the "tapping" or "clicking" on the touchpad also doesn't work anymore. only the normal touchpad functionality is ok. TOOO LATE!!!! i didn't upgrade libxcb (because of the dependency-error i stated above). BUT i did upgrade libX11, because there was no dependency-error about that! now X was completely broken! i downgraded to DVD/OSS-version of X11 via textmode-based-yast... no i am able to use X11 again. on tuesday the repo was ok again. i was able to do do a full upgrade from X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1 repo. but today it is broken again. at least on x86_64. after upgrade from X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1 repo, X-server crashed on startup. regardless if i was trying "nv" or "nvidia". in /var/log/Xorg.0.log there was a crash-info at the end of the file. saying that /usr/bin/Xorg crashed receiving a SIGABORT (i think it was SIGABORT, but i am not sure). after this crash a reboot was necessary. -- einen schönen Tag noch DI Rainer Klier Und bitte keine TOFU-Mails (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOFU) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+help@opensuse.org

it is a notebook quadro fx1600. i am also using 180.35. it is really crazy! to find out WHICH of the packages is responsible for the crash i downgraded to version from tuesday. and then i upgraded packages from repo one by one (a pain to do ;-) after each upgrade i restartet x-session. but the crash didn't arrive any more..... i upgraded every package, but when i arrived at the and of the list, and there was no more package to upgrade, the crash still was not seen any more. i don't understand! maybe it has something to do with package xorg-x11-libxcb-7.4. as i downgraded to packages from 28.2. and then upgraded to packages from 3.3. i had the warning that /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0 is not a symbolic link. even after reinstalling the rpm there was a broken link in /usr/lib64/ from /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0.0.0 to /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0 i had to delete the link and then ldconfig. -- einen schönen Tag noch DI Rainer Klier Und bitte keine TOFU-Mails (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOFU) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+help@opensuse.org

Sounds like the buildservice wasn't finished building, so you got an inconsistent state - or something similar.
maybe it has something to do with package xorg-x11-libxcb-7.4. as i downgraded to packages from 28.2. and then upgraded to packages from 3.3. i had the warning that /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0 is not a symbolic link. even after reinstalling the rpm there was a broken link in /usr/lib64/ from /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0.0.0 to /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0
libxcb would only affect clients, not the server...
Well, it does work now, that's the most important thing.

hmm, i did the first try of the update today at about 9:00 CET. and i did it from the ftp5.gwdg.de server.
/usr/lib64/ from /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0.0.0 to /usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0

ok. really strange.

This should be fixed soon. Do not update libxcb/libX11 on 11.1. It will break any X application. :-(
on tuesday the repo was ok again. i was able to do do a full upgrade from X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1 repo.
but today it is broken again. at least on x86_64.
after upgrade from X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.1 repo, X-server crashed on startup. regardless if i was trying "nv" or "nvidia". in /var/log/Xorg.0.log there was a crash-info at the end of the file. saying that /usr/bin/Xorg crashed receiving a SIGABORT (i think it was SIGABORT, but i am not sure).
Works here with GeForce 6200 and nv driver (openSUSE 11.1-x86_64 + all updates from X11:XOrg repo).
Also no problem when using nvidia driver (180.35). Which nvidia graphics card are you using?
it is a notebook quadro fx1600. i am also using 180.35.
it is really crazy!
to find out WHICH of the packages is responsible for the crash i downgraded to version from tuesday. and then i upgraded packages from repo one by one (a pain to do ;-) after each upgrade i restartet x-session. but the crash didn't arrive any more..... i upgraded every package, but when i arrived at the and of the list, and there was no more package to upgrade, the crash still was not seen any more.
i don't understand!

i had to delete the link and then ldconfig.
/usr/lib64/libxcb-xlib.so.0 is now a fake lib. Before it no longer existed at all, it was just a fake provide in the RPM. Anyway, I think the issue is fixed now.
