[opensuse-xorg] syntax colouring in xedit
Since when does *xedit* use syntax colouring? The manual page does not say how to switch it off, and the display is awful. The font used for /code/ is smaller than the font used for /text/ , to the point of being unreadable. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+help@opensuse.org
No idea since when but it does for some time, it has a uemacs buildin including elist support where you can make your own inferface (also undocumented) I just found that the feature is available since 2002 and you can change the parameters in: c.lsp The path in my system is: /usr/lib64/X11/xedit/lisp/progmodes re, wh Am 11.01.2011 14:54, schrieb Krzysztof Żelechowski:

I cannot reproduce. Both fonts are the same size here (11.3 that is). This looks *very* broken. Try this with a new user, without any additional configuration. Could be a user config error. Also try with LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 , just to be sure. xedit is using a seriously broken font setup for HTML, that is true. The "code" font is much too small (still readable in my place, so you have an additional issue). Please report this upstream, we don't do anything special about xedit (heck, I guess it's the first time I ever actually run it knowingly). i guess you can simply make a copy of html.lsp and change the font name from lucida to lucidatypewriter something you obviously have. you can use xlsfonts "*lucida-medium-r-*1" to see if you can that font at all. re, wh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-xorg+help@opensuse.org

It means my change would not survive an update.

Yes, that is viable. I find the SGML mode quite appropriate. However, this trick is not discoverable at all.
i have attached the README so you can get it in all glory. If i read correctly you can also add a private directory with you own list setup.
Thanks. Observe that the README file should be distributed in the binary package as package documentation. Moreover, there it does not contain the word ‘private’ at all, whereas the word ‘directory’ does not return the information you refer me to. Just the opposite, the documentation says the LISP engine cannot be customised:
Since the interface is, unfortunately, complex enough to not expect casual users to have something like a $HOME/.xedit file, if you want to add new modes, please check lisp/modules/xedit.lsp:*auto-modes*
