Mention of IRQ problems have been made in various places, but the PCI slot that could share the AGP slot IRQ is empty. Anyway my previous Epox mother board had the same problem, as does my new Abit.

There is very little documentation available about the newer Matrox chips. Matrox developed the support for those chips pretty much themselves. It seems they have pretty much abandoned the driver since so that it is in a pretty desolate state at the moment. It definitely needs an audit - but this is difficult to do without documentation. There are some reports about hangs linked to DRI. Do you have DRI enabled? does it work better if you disable it? Egbert.
