I fresh installed an i915G system Saturday. X was using FBDEV instead of Intel, sluggardly 1152x864 instead of decent 1920x1440. After some time trying to figure out what was goind on I realized I had had a G84 card installed at installation time, since pulled. Before I realized installation included neither Intel nor ATI drivers, I noticed lsmod output included nouveau. Why? Since installing Intel driver (and upgrading kernel from rc7), nouveau is properly missing (and i915 included). -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
