Why don't we fix the patch? Egbert can you do this? The problem is that afaik even core xorg developers, fglrx and compiz/kde4 developers cannot agree on how to fix it.
Matthias said that if we contain the code-path in a check for the drivername it might be acceptable for our xorg. Thats what i think is the better idea. Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. Henne, please note that this is not a fix - it's a workaround. An acceptable one, that is. With this workaround fglrx will apparently show decent performance with compiz, but there will be some (minor) graphical glitches. So *eventually* we want to get rid of the workaround again - if fglrx ever manages to support the required operation with reasonable speed. I understood that from the beginning :)

Sure thats for later. But for now we want to avoid the shitstorm that other distributions are already in for exactly this problem right? Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. So what is the final plan for 11.2? Will the workaround go in? Will there be a more official repo or should I prepare to point fglrx users to my own buildservice repo? We can only accept a workaround that checks for the driver name. No, we don't have time to work on that ourselves.
