[suse-xfree86] Missing provide in new X.org packages
Hello, I'm using SUSE 9.2. The original X.org packages in 9.2 provided a virtual package called glx: $ rpm -q --whatprovides glx xorg-x11-Mesa-6.8.1-15 But the new packages (version 6.8.2-0.1) no longer provide that dependency. It should be a small thing, but I happen to have a few packages on my system that explicitly depended on glx... Is this intentional, or can someone build new packages with this bug corrected, please? Thanks for your attention, -- Thibaut Cousin http://www.thibaut-cousin.net

Which packages are this exactly? Stefan Public Key available ------------------------------------------------------ Stefan Dirsch (Res. & Dev.) Not SUSE-made packages, of course, but third-party packages coming from the Apt repository in ftp.gwdg.de. I'm aware that depending explicitly on glx is probably a mistake and I mailed the packager about it. Anyway, since the X.org 6.8.1 packages provided glx and the 6.8.2 don't, I thought it would be a good idea to tell you, for downward compatibility reasons at least. -- Thibaut Cousin http://www.thibaut-cousin.net

Thanks!

Install an old glx RPM with "--justdb", so these packages are happy. Stefan Public Key available ------------------------------------------------------ Stefan Dirsch (Res. & Dev.) Duely noted. :-) Out of curiosity, why did you remove that glx virtual package? Thanks for your answer, -- Thibaut Cousin http://www.thibaut-cousin.net

Cleanup. This package no longer exists since SUSE 8.0. And this is now about 3 years ago ...
